Looking Forward Into 2009

Hello everyone, as 2009 approaches new goals shall be set, and we look back to see if old goals were met. So, I will look back upon old posts to see what I set for '08 if anything...

Ahhh yes, I started out 2008 with the Lava-Productions podcast. Haha, that seems like forever ago. So, I think my goal was to get something started. And look at this, goal accomplished. Now, this isn't the biggest podcast ever but I'm hoping it will gain an audience.

Anyways, looking into 2009, we can hope for the best. I know Melissa and I both wish we could do the podcast more often, and maybe that'll happen, but you never know. It would be really cool if I could get different groups of people recording podcasts together that way we can get more out there. Maybe we should do that... If you and a friend of yours have wanted to do a podcast together but don't know how to publish it, email me! If you record it and send everything to me, I could get it going here. Randomness Squared would truly start being random surprises about who is going to be on the podcast.

This is me brainstorming, can you tell? Haha, anyways as always, thanks for reading and look for more great stuff in 2009! Maybe Melissa will add her own little addition to this post after me...

Random Update #7: Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays everyone!

Let's get to the update:

WE NEED PEOPLE! Plain and simple, we would like to have more people be part of this site. I, personally, would like to see news posters who could post commentaries on random news of the world. Or I would like to see people post funny stories and stuff. There is a whole bunch of things this site could evolve into, and I would like to see this site grow exponentially on 2009.

Anyways, if you would like to help out in anyway, writer, editor, podcaster, or any other ideas that you have, please email me at xLavax@Gmail.com

Happy Holidays!

~Jake

Random Update #6

Hello everyone! This is Melissa. I just wanted to let everyone know that we are still here. Between my Lasik and school starting for both of us, things have been a bit crazy lately. Thankfully I brought my headset with me to college, so we will have a new podcast up as soon as possible. Keep checking back!

-this is Jake's part now-

I didn't want to do another post, so I am just editing this one.

School just started for me today, so stuff is going to be crazy again. I'm taking some tough classes this year, and it's marching band season, so all that will be going on. So, hang in there, and we will do as much as we can! Thanks for reading!

Random Updae #5

Hey everyone, it's time once again for a Random Update!

The Olympics are under way and the opening ceremony was terrific! I had some issues watching it... But more on that in the next podcast.

Speaking of next podcast. Melissa had Lasik Eye Surgery a few days ago and is doing very well! She can't really look at a computer screen for too long without her eye getting very dry, so we are unsure when the next podcast will be. That on top of the fact that I now have band camp.

So, in conclusion, we don't know when the next one will be. It should be fairly soon, but I just wanted to keep you all updated and aware of what is going on. So, go! and enjoy the Beijing Olympics! Yay Table Tennis!

Random Update #4

Hey everyone! First off I'd like to thank everyone who visits the site and has helped out by telling people about this podcast. We now have over 100 unique hits which I think is a great achievement for a podcast so small.

Secondly I want to apologize for the lack of podcasts. Melissa has been extremely busy with work, and when we did record one, one of the files was corrupted and they couldn't be edited together. Don't worry, it was a short episode, and we didn't talk about much.

So, that brings me to my final point. If anyone knows how I can record both Melissa and I talking on one computer that would be great. Please email me xLavax@Gmail.com or randomnesssquared@yahoo.com. It would be a giant help. It would solve a lot of problems and make editing go a lot smoother. Which means more podcasts quicker.

So, thanks for hanging in there, and Melissa and I can hopefully get a podcast together soon. Thanks for reading!

Random Update #3

Hello everyone that actually reads this and if you do please comment!

It's Jake here with another Random Update... oooOOooo, ahhhhh!

Yes, we apologize for there not being a podcast this week, we were both busy and it kind of just slipped our minds -sets up alarm on iPhone-. Anyways, there wont be one this week either probably as Melissa is moving back home for the rest of the summer. She is just finishing up summer classes and stuff like that. I also have a dentist appointment among other things this week.

We did fix our hosting issues and it seems to be working rather well even though episode 6 got sent out to everyone again last week titled "Good News" on iTunes. But that wont happen again, I promise =).

So, enjoy your week and we will podcast again as soon as possible. Thanks for reading and PLEASE comment!

P.S. we are still looking for editors and fellow podcasters, please email randomnesssquared@yahoo.com or xLavax@Gmail.com to contact us. Thanks!

Hosting Issues

Hey everyone, if you are having troubles downloading the podcast (in anyway shape or form) I apologize.

The host that I use is being weird for some reason and in the future I may have to rely on paying a site. However we have not reached that point yet. The files are not available for download currently, but hopefully this is just a temporary thing.

Because it is 4th of July and with that comes this long weekend, Melissa is at home and I am trying to not worry about this. So, come Tuesday we will have an update for you. Melissa also has a speech to worry about.

So, I believe that is all for now. Have a good long weekend, and keep enjoying summer!

~Jake

P.S. If you know of a good host that is cheap, or better, free, please email me at xLavax@Gmail.com, thanks!

Random Update #2

Hey everyone, it's Jake here with a few updates.

First off, sorry for no new episode this week, I went through an emotional roller coaster over the past few days and wasn't up to recording, and Melissa is busy packing to go off to summer school. Don't worry, we'll still be recording and I'm sure you all will hear all about that in the next episode.

Secondly, sorry for misnaming last week's post/episode thingy, total accident and I can't believe I missed it, I'll be double checking my stuff from now on.

Lastly, we need people to apply to be part of this! No previous experience is needed to record, and some experience is asked for when editing. Please email randomnesssquared@yahoo.com to apply, ask questions comment on the show, anything!

So, thanks for reading and continuing to check this page. School is almost over for me, and Melissa will have a very clear schedule during her Summer School, so we should be ably to get another podcast next week. Until then, ttfn!

Happy News Week #1

Hello and welcome to the Happy News Network, your one and only source for news that doesn’t make you depressed. If you are looking for regular news programs, I suggest you tune in to NBC or any other channel for updates on the latest shootings, trials, and arrests. My name is Melissa, and I will be your host today.

In our first story today, the Illinois Department of Human Services started a program to help African Americans who do not go see doctors. The health care program targets African Americans in barber shops. Nurses go to barber shops to do simple tests like blood pressure in order to catch problems like diabetes or heart conditions. It may be a strange location, but if it gets healthcare out, I guess people can’t complain.

In Aurora, a man broke the stationary bike record by riding for an estimated 177 hours over the course of nine days. In accordance with Guinness rules, George was given 5 minutes of rest for every hour he rode. These minutes could roll over to allow for longer rest periods. In total he slept for nine hours, but never for more than about 10 minutes at a time. George had broken the world record twice before, but a bookkeeping error disqualified him the first time, and the second time someone else broke his record a month later. He hopes that this record will be certified in time for the next World Records publication. Keep a look out!

Finally, a 24 year-old girl was recently granted a degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Engineering after six years. Lucy had been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy at the age of four. By the time she was 9 she was confined to a wheelchair. For the six years that Lucy was in college, her mother helped her to all of her classes, helping her study, packing the right books and notebooks, and making sure that everything was in order. In total, her mother sat with her through 2,100 hours of classes alone, not counting studying and meetings with professors. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.

I hope you have enjoyed the first edition of the Happy News Network. I would appreciate any and all feedback about the segment. Have a great week!
